VENUS 36 HOURS BEFORE THE TRANSIT

Image taken on June 6 2004 at 17h UT, 36 hours before the transit of June 8. Venus is only 2.5° from the Sun (a red filter has been used to decrease the brightness of the sky). 400 images combined, taken with a Neptune100 B&W video camera on a Takahashi FSQ-106 refractor. Thanks to the refraction of the solar light, the atmosphere of Venus is visible almost completely.
